The guitars have drawn the attention of many youngsters by some of their popular and favourite bands. As there are many brands and different types of guitars playing various sounds, it is important to find the music one wants to play before trying out different instruments. For the advanced and professional players, this review is about the Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Thinline Telecaster which is the result of Jim Adkins and Jimmy Eat World along with Fender joining together and keenly designing a model carefully noting each and every aspect thus coming up with the JA-90, trendy and a sleek model.

Outlook:

The Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 is a new model that has been recreated from the old Fender TC-90 which is improved in every single detail as a result is this Telecaster’s unique features and design. This model has pretty much gained the attention by its sound quality and bold attitude.

Design Aspect of JA-90:

The Fender JA-90 Thinline Telecaster has a semi-hollow shaped ash body in a neat finish. The modern ‘C’ shape neck of mahogany material adds to the whole look of the guitar. The fret board is made up of the material rosewood. The bridge is styled of vintage adjusto-matic with the tailpiece anchored. The headstock is painted matching and goes well with the body colour as well as bears the signature of Jim Adkins behind the headstock. Further the straps are over sized and the graphite nut creating a cool look.

About Frets and Pickups:

The Fret board being of rosewood material has the radius of about 9.5″ (24.1 cm). This guitar has 22 no. of frets each of size medium jumbo while the position inlays of white pearloid dot. The pickup configuration is of JA-90 is S/S and has two soap bar pickups, the neck and the bridge. The neck pickup is Seymour Duncan SP90-1NRWRP Vintage P-90 and Seymour Duncan SP90-3B Vintage P-90 Bridge Pickup.

Features of JA-90 Thinline Telecaster:

This model has some worth noting adjustments as the upper cutaway is re-modelled by bringing the telecaster into body style. The large chamber provides enough room for open sound. The matching painted headstock, black plastic parts and the neat glossy finish boosts the features of this telecaster. The scale length is of 25.5″ while the nut has a width about 1.650″. The tuners are cast sealed and the controls include 2 x Tone, 2 x Volume and a 3-way pickup selector.

Controls and Switching:

The controls of this guitar are volume and tune controls. Volume 1 is the neck pickup while the volume 2 is of the bridge pickup. Similarly tone 1 and tone 2 are of the neck and bridge pickups. The 3- position toggle switching is provided for controlling the pickups wherein the position 1 is for the bridge pickup, position 2 for the bridge and the neck pickup while the third position is for the neck pickup. This guitar’s hardware is made of chrome.

Sound Quality:

The quality of sound is quite convincing though not many variety of tones are available. This Fender JA-90 is sure to satisfy all by delivering good sound. It is commendable when plugged with any amp. Handling the Telecaster is easy and does its job well.

Colour and Finish:

The Fender Jim Adkins Thinline JA-90 comes in bright crimson (0262350538), ebony (0262350539) and natural (0262350521) transparent finish. The body has a neat and glossy finish of urethane bringing a satisfaction for the player playing this instrument.

Warranty Details:

Fender gives the Thinline JA-90 a warranty period of 1 year from the original date of purchase which is purchased from any authorized dealer of Fenders. Validation of the warranty is applicable only under proper proof of the sales receipt.

In a Brief View:

The Fender Jim Adkins JA-90 Thinline Telecaster is a guitar with good features which is much better than the older version. The design and finish is cool for a guitar of the price it is available. One of the disappointing things is that the Fender Telecaster does not carry any case to store it safe. Otherwise as for the reliability and life it does not let any player down.

Ibanez is a Japanese brand of guitars that are gaining in popularity over the past years. Ibanez is probably one of the brands that make all types of guitars ranging in all prices, features and those that are best suited for the beginners as well as the advanced players. Their designers have been pouring in the skills in designing a guitar that is appealing and at the same time packed with all features yet to reach the people at an affordable price. Trying to test the music skills by coming up with tunes while looking for a perfect guitar that brings it all well, then it is worth considering to have a look at the Ibanez GAX30 Electric Guitar.

In Short:

The Ibanez GIO series of guitars are series of musical instruments which are exceptionally built to the match the same high quality as that of their advanced models not limiting the features in anyways although it is an entry-level range. The Ibanez GAX30 Electric Guitar is sure a versatile guitar with tones for rock and metal styles.

Design and Construction:

This Ibanez GAX30 Electric Guitar has a GAX1 maple neck and a precision cut Agathis body, flawlessly finished. It is durable, solid and can take in some heavy uses. It features the medium frets and affixed string – thru Body Bridge. The 6 string electric guitar has dual hum buckers complementing its sound and looks while the rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, 22 medium frets and the fixed bridge delivers good stability. 2 controls for volume and tune are provided along with a three way switch. The pick guard is constructed out of two-ply plastic, black on white.

Features of GAX30:

Ibanez has provided all features that are usually found on highly priced ones as mentioned. The headstock with the three side configuration is given in a neat design and the fret board is finished smooth in dark rosewood with traditional dot markers. The nut is of black plastic which perfectly fits and the top slopes at the same angle back as that of the strings towards the splayed headstock. The bridge is made simple with an individual saddle for each string and there are two keys for height adjustment and one key for intonation.

Frets and Pickups:

The pickups do a commendable job but the tuners may seem a little flimsy, not really though. The neck pickups and bridge pickups are PSND1 (H) and PSND2 (H) while the hardware is of the colour chrome. The rosewood finger board delivers strong and bright sounds with a long grain. Featuring the medium frets, the width of the last fret is 57 mm, thickness of the first is 20 mm and the 12th is about 22 mm. The scale is of 628mm or 24.75″.

Sound and Quality:

The sound quality is great on any type of music be it classic rock, grunge, heavy metal or blues. There is nothing wrong in tagging this electric guitar as a versatile one. The quality of this electric guitar is worth mentioning here. The wiring is of good standard while the fittings and screws as well. It holds up really well even on some heavy bangs without letting the player down that are quite amazing for its price.

Shades Available:

This Ibanez GAX30 Guitar comes in three cool shades adding boost to its look. Choose an attractive one from the available black night, blue or in red colour.

About Warranty:

As a manufacturer of this electric guitar, Ibanez does not give any warranty for this product, sounds a little disappointing. However some of the authorized dealers of Ibanez provide a certain period of warranty for GAX30 which is satisfying.

On the Whole:

Ibanez GAX30 Electric Guitar is a surprise to have all the necessary features packed at a very affordable price which also stands high on quality showing that the quality never always goes for money. Neck is effectively designed and the overall flawless finish is amazing for its cost which can even be compared with the higher end models pricing high. The output is pretty good with sustain, as for the beginners, it is a buy that never ends in regret.

Electric guitars are string instruments that may probably be considered as the one which created revolution to the pop music culture and also one of the worthy asserts of the music today. A recognized pioneer in musical instrument manufacturing, the Peavey electric, acoustic guitars are branded by Peavey Electronics. Their latest addition is the PXD Tomb Electric Guitar, which is introduced to the new PXD series of electric guitar. Skim through the following review to know all about the new PXD Tomb electric guitar.

Outlook:

The PXD Tomb Electric Guitar from the Peavey PXD series is sure a breed of extreme guitars that delivers heavy tones. This guitar well seizes both the attitude and aggression of the modern metal players.

Design and Dimension:

The PXD designs are notable as it merges the sophisticated look of metal into a black colour with the mix of aluminium. The Peavey PXD Tomb Electric Guitar dimensions about 24″ (60.96 cm) W x 48.12″ (122.2248 cm) H x 5.5″(13.97 cm) D and has a weight of 3.17 kg. The specially designed angular body is modern and neat with a craved top. This Tomb guitar is double cutaway built with a tough basswood body. The finish is clean and worth mentioning.

Features of the Tomb:

The bridge of the Peavey PXD Tomb electric guitar is of type string–through–tune o matic Bridge. The bridge holds the strings of the guitar in place on the body. A guitar’s frets, fret board, tuners, headstock, and truss rod all are attached to a long wooden extension that constitute its neck which is of maple bolt–on neck. This bolt–on neck offers flexibility and ease of accessing the neck for any maintenance or repairs. The neck wood is of maple and has a standard shape.

Frets:

The wood used to make the fret board usually differs from the wood in the rest of the neck. Thus the fret board is made up of the material rosewood. The fret or the finger board has 24 numbers of frets. These are of jumbo fret size which means that is has slightly thicker gauge allowing the player to use slight vibrato technique from pushing the string down softly. The inlays are located on the fret board at its 12th fret position.

Pickups:

Two VFL Active ceramic pickups attached to the guitar detect the string vibrations and convert the mechanical energy of the string into electrical energy. As the types and models of pickups used can greatly affect the tone of the guitar, humbuckers, which are two magnet–coil assemblies attached to each other are associated with a heavier sound. Humbucker is the pickup type of both bridge and neck. The number of pickups is 2 and its switch type is of 3 way selector switch. This guitar has pick guard which is a piece of laminated plastic that protects the finish of the top of the guitar from damage due to the use of a plectrum or fingernails.

Controls:

The controls present in the PXD Tomb 6 string electric guitar are the two volume controls and a master tone control with 3-way toggle switch. It has precision PXD logo tuning machines of 15-1 ratio w’ distinctive PXD button. This guitar has standard number of strings of 6 and the scale length of 24-3/4″.

Available finishes:

The colours are attractive and have a touch of glossy finish. Three colours it is available in are glossy red, white and black. It lasts long with the same finish without fading. This guitar includes a specially designed coffin case gig bag for storing it after use.

Warranty Details:

The manufacturer Peavey gives an extended warranty for this tomb guitar a period of 5 years. Defects in the material and workmanship are covered under warranty from the date of purchase.

In Brief:

The Peavey PXD Tomb Electric Guitar is a good choice to go for. The look and finish is convincing and the sound may not be so good but not bad either. Although built with limited set of features, it is definitely a usable instrument. The Tomb is no doubt to last long and offers an average performance in the live shows more than one expects.

When we read the name “The Gibson Custom Shop Zakk Wylde Signature Les Paul, the first thing that came to our mind was, what an amazing combination, Camo/Bull’s-Eye electric guitar. This edition is brand new for 2011; this guitar has been the choice for the shredders for years now, and Epiphone has just stepped it up by a notch with the inclusion of the active Zakk Wylde EMG-81/85 active humbucking pickups. In the following review we will see about the Zakk Wylde Signature Bullseye Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar.

Wowing design:

We actually had to wait a little to get our hands on the Zakk Wylde Signature Bullseye Les Paul Custom, but when we did get to open it, we had a ‘wow’ moment to say the least. The black bulls-eye circles were quite sharp with some expert painting. The antique white finishing on the guitars is a little more of creme coloured. The finishing was just perfect, however, we did notice that the finishing was quite soft in a few areas, somewhat as though the painting or finishing had not yet hardened. We thought it was something like, it was painted and was immediately shipped, without giving enough time for it to harden. But once the finishing hardened, there were no issues what so ever from then on. As in the case of most of Les Paul Customs, the Zakk Wylde is also quite heavy, weighing 10.6 lbs. The wood used for the body is a thick maple cap over mahogany. After using it for a few years, you will hardly notice any weight. Another thing you would not mind is that, the tone of the guitar gets better with age.

Neck:

The neck material is actually a three piece maple neck that is actually unfinished, but has been lightly sealed. The neck shape also seems to be slightly thicker than a standard neck, but does have more a D-like shaping. As far as the fingerboard is concerned, it is ebony, with Dunlop 6100 extra jumbo fret wire. The finishing is actually quite good, however, we were able to witness some minute hand-filing marks surrounding the neck binding where the nibs touch the frets. Overall, every bit looked level.

Headstock and bridge:

The headstock and finishing was quite typical to that of a Les Paul Custom sporting a headstock inlay of diamond mother of pearl on the above mentioned ebony fretboard. In the headstock’s rear, there is a black silhouette of Zakk playing the guitar, you will also find Gibson Custrom shop decal along with the serial number. The scale of the Gibson Zakk Wylsw Signature Bullseye LP Custom is the standard 24 ¾ scale as in the case of all the Les Pauls. As far as the hardware is concerned, all of the knobs are black speed knobs, and the rest of the hardware is gold and even the Nashville TOM bridge as well as the tailpiece is gold. Again, everything is set up quite well.

Pickups:

The pickups on offer is active EMG; an EMG-81 that has been placed on the bridge slot and an EMG-85 placed in the neck. Both of the pickups require a 9V battery for operation. The manufacturer claims that these pickups will easily last over a year of normal playing, which is definitely not bad. We usually love to check the voltage quite often and also replace the battery when we find it dropping below 9V. The hottest signal we get out of the pickups is always the best.

Sound:

So, all the features are excellent, but what does it matter if the guitar does not manage to sound good? let us now see how it sounds. We were quite surprised at the speedy attack of the Gibson Zakk Wylde Signature Bullseye LP Custom Electric Guitar, certainly most of the credit goes to the EMGs. The sustain looks as though it is much higher, as if you are using a slight boot in the signal, though you are actually not. There is ample attack provided by the 81 bridge, even though we would have liked to see some more treble bite as well as presence than we would have liked. Some of this can also be attributed to the speakers as well as amp settings, the type of tube you are using and lots more. The EMB 85 neck pickup seemed to possess one of our all-time favourite tones. Its neither too bright nor too dark, it seems to be just right with some great load of sustain; something like a perfect lady tone. Just add some SD1 with a bit of chorus, and will absolutely nail the tone of this guitar.

Action:

We feel that the EMG active pickups seems to be having a wider spectrum of frequency. The EMG 81 possess a good low end, and is also balanced quite well with the mid ranges. The top end has got some nice detail, however at times, it will like too much of presence. Obviously, the right thing you can do is, just give the right setting over the tone knob, amp as well as pedal settings; which have the characteristic to activate the pickups. Keeping that aside, one of the biggest enhancements made to the already good tone of the guitar is to make changes the gauges of the string. One of the best gauges is 10-60, which adds a great deal of matter on the lower end, but it still does provide a great deal of quick picking attack. With this kind of set-up, you will get great string bending and even maintains the presence that is essential to make the cut through in a situation of a loud two guitar band; it even measures up for the requirements for playing extreme metal.

Warranty:

Zakk Wylde Bullseye LP Custom electric guitar comes with Epiphone’s limited lifetime warranty.

Verdict:

The Zakk Wylde Signature Bullseye Les Paul Custom guitar has comfortably made its way into our favourite live electric guitars list. Though it attracts quite a lot of dings and scratches, it sure is made to be used. Overall, a great choice! If you are essentially looking for the all important Zakk Wylde sound, well, it just nails it down right. It sounds clean and sweet, but just be aware that it does not sound like a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul 1957 gold-top reissue. However, it cannot be considered as a con, and overall, it is a complete electric guitar, with some good value.

The Epiphone Les Paul ’56 Limited Edition reissue looks are recreating the classic of Gibson, including the design, feel and sound that made that original version a massive hit as well as one of the most loved guitars ever. It is a fine guitar, and does not leave much for the guitarists to wish for, as far as the features are concerned. Read on to find out if Epiphone has managed to deliver to everybody’s expectations.

Design:

As you can see in the images below, this Limited Edition Les Paul 1956 electric guitar is a real beauty. As far as the design specifications are concerned, its body and top are mahogany and rosewood fingerboard with the trapezoidal inlays. It has binding on top of the guitar and also on the neck. The Gold Top model, with chrome hardware looks pristine. This guitar weighs a bit though, as it is mahogany. The finishing is great and the frets on the guitar are very well placed, while some of the lower-end models come with frets that is of very low quality and come out before you know.

Features:

The Epiphone Limited Edition ’56 Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar has almost all the features a guitarist will ever need for the playing style that goes with the guitar. The set of features are so carefully chosen that does not leave the desires of any of the guitarists unfulfilled, making it a fully featured guitar that will please you.

Tuners and pickups:

As far as the tuners are concerned, they are of grover type, with dual almico P90 pickups; each of these pickups have volume and tone control, with pickup selector switch. You can either play just with the neck pickup or in the middle position in combination, and down, can be played with back. The pickups are actually single coils; people usually mistake them for humbuckers, may be because of the size, but they are actually not. These single coil pickups have been around for a long time, for instance, since 1946 the Gibson guitars has P90 pickups. It is just that it looks much different than what you would find on Fender Stratocaster single coils; these are bigger and a little bit more of complex architecture, more windings, as they are bigger pickups. They are known for their biting trouble and high output. They were almost this pickup of choice, till about 1957 on all Gibson models, till the humbuckers came in. However, the P90s have come back through the years and they have come back strong.

Performance:

The tone that comes out of Epiphone Limited Edition ’56 LP guitar is a serious sounding one that gives you no excuse not to buy one. It has been set up well, and the grover tuners keep it well in tune. The P90 pickups it has really does scream. This does recreate the classic sounds and does a good job at it. Though it is limited while playing certain styles, it does not mean that the LP 1956 makes your tone sound poor, but it is actually quite the opposite, this offers the rich and versatile sound that, we are sure a guitarist will be happy with.

Possessing some immaculate hardware built-in, the Epiphone LP 1956 Guitar is easy to set-up, much more precise than the usual way and is mostly ready to play out of box. Handling and playing this guitar is such a pleasure; mainly because most of the time, it stays in tune irrespective of the level of usage. It gives the player some real deal of confidence. The LP 1956 re-issue is very capable of serving as a replacement as well as a first choice for the gigs as well as rehearsals.

Warranty:

The Epiphone Les Paul ’56 Limited Edition Electric Guitar comes with limited lifetime warranty.

Verdict:

Overall, Epiphone has been successful in delivering the reissue of the classic as a well designed, quality and sturdy instrument at a very fair price. Its solid build made it possible for it to be played well in studio as well as live. It delivers an even balance of reliability and durability. If you want a 1956 sounding les paul guitar with that tone, without the modern day high end LP price tag, then this is the guitar that you have to watch-out for.

Founded in the year 1974, Music Alley has been providing music excellence and outstanding service for over thirty five years. While the Music Alley Junior Guitar managed to be a grand success, its sibling, the Music Alley ½ size Junior Guitar also seems to follow up the path of its predecessor. It is amazing how the manufacturer has managed to put together a guitar package at such a low cost. Read on to find out the features and performance of this guitar pack.

Half size:

This guitar, as the name indicates, is a half size junior guitar package that features a nylon string acoustic guitar. Never be fooled by its looks as it is nothing like a toy guitar. In fact, it is the ideal guitar for kids who aim at becoming a pro in very early stages of their life. The half size nature of this guitar just puts further stress on this fact. The quality of the body of the guitar is quite reasonable considering the price tag.

Body and Finishing:

The body is actually a lacquered ply, having a nice and bright coloured finishing. It is available in a range of attractive finishing, and some of them include Red, blue, purple, sunburst, natural wood and pink. The neck quality is also pretty good being not too bulky or flimsy.

Performance:

As we had mentioned earlier, it is a great option for kids, and the main reason for this is its nylon strings that aids in making guitar learning much easier. The nylon makes it easier for them for strumming tuning and also hold the strings down. It is best suited for kids aged five to eight. The guitar is fully playable and sounds amazing too. To begin with, you might feel that the tune does not stay longer before it needs tuning, but is because of the new nylon strings. Over time, once the strings have stretched a little, this will prove to be much less of an issue.

Not so good facts:

That was all good news, but what we are not happy about is the fact that the frets do not have markers on them, which should have been included in a learner’s guitar. Taking a closer look at the body of the guitar, you will realise that the lacquer is thin, thready and even bubbled in a couple of areas, which might be because of the thinness of the ply and lightness of the guitar. Hence, some rough treatment that your kids may tend to do, will end up damaging the guitar quite easily.

The package:

The Music Alley ½ size Junior/Kids Guitar package includes the guitar itself, pitch pipes for tuning, a specially edited beginner’s book for children and a tutorial DVD. The booklet and CD are very informative.

Verdict:

The Music Alley ½ size Junior Guitar package is simply an excellent value for money. This will prove to be a great birthday gift to your kid or grandchild. With a great range of colour options available, you will be able to pick the exact one that the kid desires. Overall, it is a great guitar until your little one earns a bit of respect for their musical instruments.

With the winter around the corner, it will be great to take up guitar as a hobby to enjoy it in front of the fire. Electric guitar kits are deal sealers for budding musicians, and the Rockburn Ultimate ST Style Electric Guitar seems to be one among them. Coming in as a complete guitar package, let us see how it performs.

Design:

The Rockburn Ultimate ST Style Electric Guitar’s strat style body is made out of basswood and the neck out of maple. The maple fingerboard just enhanced the whole package. It is a full size strat style electric guitar featuring a pickup selector switch, 3 pickups, volume and tone controls, as well as a tremolo arm. The guitar comes in three finishes of Diamond Black, Classic Sunburst and Chilli Red.

Features:

Features wise, we cannot find any real cool ones, but the basic features present excel in whatever they do. Considering its below eighty pounds price tag, this is not bad at all.

Sound:

Rockburn Ultimate ST Style Electric Guitar does an amazing job when it comes to performance. It is great for starters and really does look the part. Its sound is absolutely amazing and extremely easy to tune as well. Children will simply love it as it managed to hold its tune unlike most kids guitars in the market. Right out of the box, the guitar is out of tune, but will take only a minute to retune it. The pickups are weak and the low density of the basswood used in the body work together to ensure this guitar has a feeble sound at best.

Package:

In the package, the kit includes EQ Controls, a 10W guitar amp with a distortion channel and a headphone socket too. The extras are a 3m guitar lead, a set of spare strings, plectrums, an adjustable bag, a gig bag and to aid the self learners, there is a tutorial DVD and online guitar lessons for a year.

Verdict:

Every guy wants to be a guitar hero and every girl wants to date them, and this guitar can give you the much needed boost. Overall, we can say that the Rockburn Ultimate ST Style Electric Guitar Pack is a beautiful high quality instrument having terrific sound and playability. The package delivers to be excellent value for the money spent. It exceeded our expectations on every level and we highly recommend it.

Jaxville guitars in general are for those who are the ‘dare devil’ kind. They are simply different, which comes in as no surprise considering that Jaxville is often known as the home of Custom series guitars and heaps of special editions. In the following review, we will see about one such custom guitar, the Jaxville Hades ST Style Guitar.

Design:

Jaxville Hades ST Style Guitar Pack belongs to the Jaxville’s Custom Series II, where the company once again has done a great job in bringing together art and music. The Custom II Series offers three original designs on three very beautifully crafted guitars: Demon, Hades and Zeus. Being exclusively commissioned by Jaxville, it looked every bit like uniqueness, style and class. This series captures the darker side of rock completely and just perfect and Hades seems to be the best among the lot, and will be the pick of the lot for most dark loving personalities. In the Greek mythology, ‘Hades’ was the ruler of the underworld, given the Helm of Darknessfor his role in victory over the Titans in the Divine War. The exquisite design perfectly matches with the headstock, neck and black accessories in a luxurious high gloss finishing.

Features:

The uniqueness of the Jaxville Hades ST Style Guitar does not stop with its design as it has a great set of features too. The body is basswood, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and chrome hardware. The Hades ST Style guitar has got three adjustable single coil pickups, five way selector switch and to provide you with the ultimate selection of tonal colours, Jaxville has offered tone and volume controls. The ST Style Hades has also got 22 frets. Some say 24 frets are better, but we totally disagree with that, we feel that 22 frets are better because the pickups are right under the harmonic node.

Sound:

When it comes to performance, the Jaxville Hades ST Style Guitar sounds as great as it looks. It is charged with snaps and zings that makes it heaps of fun to play. The tones are clean and solid and adds good gain and even tones up the voice of the guitar.

Package:

As the title indicates, the Jaxville Hades ST Style Guitar comes in as kit, which includes everything you need to get started with, such as, the Jaxville Hades electric guitar, Rockburn 10 Watt amplifier, Plecs and set of spare strings, 3 metre guitar lead, Guitar strap, Black guitar bag and Tutorial DVD.

Warranty:

Jaxville offers its Hades ST Style Guitar Pack 12 months warranty for parts and labour.

Verdict:

Jaxville Hades ST Style Guitar Pack is the one if you are looking for something quite unique. Its performance is great too so, you need not hesitate if you have got one in your minds.

Yamaha are renowned for their quality musical instruments. Their C range of nylon classical guitars has specifications way beyond their price bracket. Having 2-ply back and sides, ultra thin finishing and player focussed design, this C range of guitars are just the perfect entry to classical guitar. In the following review, we will see about the C40, which is Yamaha’s most inexpensive full sized classical guitar model with some outstanding quality and tone. Read on to find out more.

Design:

The Yamaha C40 Classical Guitar is made in Indonesia and it looks pretty good too. It has spruce tops and mahogany like meranti backs and sides. The body has normal black wood finishing. There is a gig bag included if you opt for the starter kit, Pack includes spare strings, carry bag, electronic tuner, instant Guitar DVD. It is great quality. The finish looks like it is always going to be there. It is very comfortable to play with. The shape of the body is just perfect for legs. The finish is more of a glossy type, so it is so smooth.

Classical set-up:

This one is a classical guitar, which means it has the strings set widely apart. It has this kind of set up because, the classical guitars are designed to be plucked and not strummed. So, as you can imagine, this wider spacing enables you to places your fingers into the strings. The next thing to note is that, the fretboard is flat, which means you have to reach further with your fingers to cover all the strings. So, if you have a small hand, or buying a guitar for a child, this is not the right choice. Finally the C40 has been designed to accept the softer strings of gut or nylon. If you try on any metal strings, it is no good as it will damage the guitar, cuts into the wood and puts a lot of strain over the neck. Though these strings are soft, they are quite full as well as soft and gentle. As you can see, this one is not for playing heavy metal, or for a stadium. The C40 comes with chrome tuners.

Fingerboard:

The real rosewood fingerboard and bridges make sure that this guitar is sanctified with a quality of tone and playability that disproves its reasonable price tag.

Sound:

A good player will be aware that, from a guitar, it is a must for it to have a good deal of action and ease of use. Yamaha has got a great deal of reputation of its consistency and quality. And, this one of the main reasons why you can just blindly buy a Yamaha without even playing the thing. We can guarantee you that the tuning keys will just be perfect and you need not wiggle around with it, and spoil the thing eventually. You can play it with a pick or fingers and it will either way sound great.

Action:

Action cannot be compromised at any cost. The action actually seems to be a combination of the height of the strings over fretboard and also of the string’s tension. This is irrespective of the fact that they are steel or 12 string one. They even have the capability of pulling the guitar head upwards, bringing them farther from the fretboard. This setup requires your fingers to be quite strong on the strings in order to make any clear notes.

We were surprised by the quality of its tone. It is almost accurate in the upper registers. And the only issue with the guitar is that, the trebles are a little tinny. Overall, it is an excellent student guitar that would meet the needs of the learner for at least a couple of years, if not more.

Best for students:

For the price tag it has on it, is very hard not to consider its value as a beginner instrument for anyone learning from scratch.

Verdict:

With the C40 Classical Guitar Basic Pack, Yamaha has proved that a modest budget guitar does not have to put up with a low quality instrument, as the C40 ably reveals. When you have to purchase a musical instrument, especially a guitar, you can face a real minefield of decisions. While you can pay a lot of money for a good quality instrument, if you cannot play it the way you want to, it will be a real waste of money. You have to make your investment in an instrument that suites the kind of music you wish to play.

Over a couple of years after Fender had a rebirth from the possession of CBS, the company has grown-up into a huge and powerful corporation. Since it is benefitting from the two finely sharpened enormous capacity stateside production facilities, Fender is, nonetheless lively enough to provide continuously developing models on two of its favourite guitars. In the following review, we will see about the Fender Classic Player Baja Telecaster Electric Guitar which is a custom shop motivated instance of Fender that comes on to the shelves from the Ensenada factory in Mexico. It has a dream list of specifications and has been designed by the master builder Chris Fleming.

Design:

Chris has based the Baja Telecaster on a 52′s style telecaster with a typical ash body and maple fingerboard. The Baja is a very classic looking Telecaster which is a style you either like the look of or you do not. The guitar possesses an ash body, which is made of 4 gorgeous parts of a timber that is measured to be the best choice for the fifties style of teles. This is partly complemented by its looks and also by its comparatively scooped-mid, rich and vigorous twanging tone in comparison to alder. The gloss polyester finishing of the body also has that substantial yakky feel for which Telescasters are respected and loathed equally for. They are available in two fabulous finishes of Blonde, Desert Sand and there is also a special run limited edition model Lake Placid Blue. The typically solid feel of a good Telecaster is intact in the Baja.

Neck:

Another vintage feature of the guitar is that, it has a chunky soft V shaped neck with 21 frets. The neck has a fingerboard that is flatter than the vintage 9.5” radius and medium jumbo frets are a allowance to more modern playability.

Frets:

The fret has uniform tidiness and executed well too, which makes the most of the flatter board radius for the issue free bends throughout the neck. Design wise, the twelve fret dots are placed quite close to each other, which will be annoying for a few people. But also note that the neck is a soft ‘V’ beneath a few frets, but still a few people will find the full gloss finis quite thick.

Bridge:

Tone wise, best for the 50’s telecasters is the vintage style tele bridge with three brass saddles. In real time, the cadence fight with this style of bridge is a part of the classic tele vibe and tone.

Features:

The Fender telecaster has heaps of electronic stuff going in inside itself than what it looks like. Inside, you will find a custom shop broadcaster single coil in the bridge and also a custom shop pickup that is a twisted tele at the neck. The bridge is actually a flat pole type that is much powerful than the tele pickups with a stronger mid range.

Controls:

This Baja Telecaster sports a 4 way blade selector and also a separate push pull switch in volume pot for their extended S1 options. Hence, the positions of 1 and 3 always seem to be the bridge and neck pickups isolated, let alone 2 and 4 to different combos of neck and pickups in parallel, series and even out of phase, which depends in if the S1 is in or out. The complete set-up is quite neat.

Sound and Action:

In picking up the electric guitar for the very first time, you will be impressed instantly by the almost acoustic quality it possesses. Many players will just find the tele bridge pickup to be quite disorderly, however, you will soon understand why a lot of the rock and roll guitars sport this very set-up. With this, you will be able you will be able to get the tone to high end with a bit more drive and can even go loud.

Warranty:

Fender gives its Classic Player Baja Telecaster Electric Guitar one year warranty for parts and labour.

Verdict:

The Baja looks like a good Tele, plays like a good Tele and sounds like a good Tele. Whether the out of normal tones is you kind of music is for you to make up, but the extra option of the two pickups in series, thanks to the four-way, it is undoubtedly a champ. The flexibility, and very affordable price tag of the Classic Player Baja Telecaster makes it an option that you would love.
